Senior Buyer
The experience required is that of commodity sourcing and supplier management in an engineering or service environment.
This is a permanent position, paying £24-27k plus matching pension to 8%,
Holidays 25 +BH plus corporate benefits.
The Role
You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective relationships with selected suppliers, to ensure that customer delivery dates are consistently met, and to provide further impetus to cost saving activities but more importantly to allow all buyers to focus on true supplier development.
You will be required to: -
Be responsible for ensuring that the correct amount of materials and components to satisfy the business needs are purchased, taking into consideration the importance of purchasing items which are to the correct specification, arrive on time and meet quality and cost objectives.
Lead the purchasing activity for a family of products or suppliers in order to obtain a competitive advantage for the local business unit.
Provide supply solutions for difficult sourcing issues.
Be responsible for identifying potential savings and implementing continuous cost reduction initiatives.
Be responsible for ensuring the importance of supplier selection and researching and evaluating possible new suppliers in order to provide supply solutions for difficult local sourcing issues not covered by global agreements.
Manage relationships with suppliers in line with business policies and procedures
Be responsible for establishing and monitoring supplier performance and conducting Key Supplier Development processes. To be the main point of contact for supplier problem resolution and instigating the necessary corrective action.
Be responsible for managing and maintaining commercial relationships with suppliers and conducting complex negotiation on contractual conditions of Purchase. .
Be responsible for ensuring that prices and lead-times are correct in the system by updating and maintaining quotation data.
Ensure that overdue requisitions are kept to an absolute minimum and to be responsible for liaising with logistics to ensure that effective stocking policies are achieved.
The Person:-
Experience of commodity sourcing and supplier management in an engineering or service environment.
Preferably educated to degree level with a CIPS qualification (or studying towards)
Good knowledge of ERP systems (SAP an advantage).
Knowledge of negotiation techniques, relationship management, motivational skills and finance.
Paying £24-27k plus benefits, this challenging position will suit those with a number of years experience of purchasing within an engineering or servicing environment, and especially of Supplier Development, who are looking to join a large organisation with its inherent corporate structure and opportuinities for advancement.
