THE ORGANISATION
This is an excellent first step into the Junior Buyer role and will allow the individual an excellent opportunity to broaden their skills within a department that plays a key role in the Company strategy.
Our client is undoubtably the the world’s leading international group of art materials businesses with origins dating back to the early 18th Century, based on the strong traditional brands Winsor & Newton, Lefranc & Bourgeois, Liquitex and Reeves. The group is wholly owned by a Swedish based group (with a group turnover of around £420 million)
The Role
The Junior Buyer a key member of the Purchasing team, reporting to the Senior Buyer, having responsibility for ensuring the control and reduction of costs through strategic management of suppliers whilst ensuring the supply of good quality products in time, for new and existing ranges.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting the Senior Buyer to Identify opportunities and risk with specific portfolio of products, implementing strategies to resolve issues and create cost reductions through supplier management and control of prices.
Developing and implementing strategies to prevent loss and increase gain, due to uncontrollable factors such as movement in currency or raw materials.
Ensuring customer satisfaction is achieved (both internally and externally) by meeting NPD deadlines, ensuring availability of existing products, to agreed quality standard, managing change to existing products and holding and attending NPD meetings as necessary.
Sourcing and investigating new and innovative ideas for all product areas in order to develop Purchasing as a key source of information at ColArt.
Enhancing own performance by continuously developing own knowledge and skills to meet and exceed key standards.
THE CANDIDATE
Qualifications Educated to Degree level or equivalent. CIPS qualification would be ideal.
Skills & Knowledge Demonstrated experience within a Purchasing department.
Packaging or some Technical experience.
Good analytical skills.
Computer literate (particularly Excel and Internet)
Comfortable operating at all levels and quick to establish personal credibility.
Personal Qualities Bright and positive individual who is looking to develop their career in a progressive and expanding organisation.
Open minded and receptive to new ideas with the confidence to develop initiatives of their own.
Able to work under pressure and meet demanding targets and deadlines.
Highly structured and disciplined approach to work.
REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS
Basic Salary up to £28k (dependent on experience)
Holidays 25 days plus statutory.
